Drug Abuse in Burundi: Prevention, Recovery, and the Role of Community

Evidence shows that drugs are widely available, and young people are the first to turn to them. In Burundi, young people represent 70% of the population. Drug users are primarily between the ages of 15 and 35, according to Psychologue Sans Vacances and accounts from those who have recovered. The main substances consumed—whether orally, through inhalation, or by injection—include cigarettes, alcohol, beer, cocaine, booster, and cannabis.
